Costa Rica Intensives

A private intensive where the ocean does half the work — and you do the rest.

June 4th - July 6th, 2026
Nosara, Costa Rica

Most people spend years talking about their patterns. You're going to spend one or two days breaking them — in the water, in the jungle, and in direct conversation with someone who has sat in the dark long enough to see in it.

This isn't a retreat. There are no workshops, no circles, no thirty people sharing a bathroom. It's you and me, six or twelve hours of uninterrupted 1:1 work, and one of the most powerful natural environments on the planet as our container.

The ocean is not the backdrop. It's part of the curriculum.

Let me say upfront — this is not for the faint of heart or the half-committed.

What actually
happens here

We start in the morning and go somewhere real. Not the version of yourself you came in with — but the thing underneath it. The wound that's been quietly running your decisions. The story you've been telling yourself about why you can't have what you actually want. The version of you that got stuck somewhere and never fully came back.

Then we go to the water.

I've watched what happens to people when they get on a surfboard for the first time — or the hundredth time. The ocean doesn't care how impressive you are on land. It asks you one question, over and over:

Are you here? Are you actually here right now?

The way you answer that question in the water is usually the same way you answer it in your life. We'll talk about what I see.

In the afternoon, we integrate. We bring the morning's excavation and the ocean's feedback into the same room and we build something forward. Not a vision board. Not a list of goals. A real reckoning with who you've been — and a grounded, specific, earned picture of who you're becoming.

"Your deepest gifts grow in the garden of your wounds."

The two-day version adds something the one-day cannot: a night in the in-between. The unconscious works while you sleep. Old selves loosen their grip in the dark. What surfaces on Day 2 is almost always the real material — the thing that was too deep to reach on Day 1. That night is not downtime. It's part of the work.

Who Comes to Costa Rica For This?

Men and women who are done talking about changing and are ready to actually do it. People who've done enough therapy, enough coaching, enough workshops to know that information isn't the problem — and that the missing piece is something more direct, more embodied, more witnessed.

Executives who have built everything they thought they wanted and are standing in it wondering why it feels hollow. People in the middle of a transition — a marriage, a career, an identity — who need clarity they can't find in their ordinary life. Anyone who has been circling the same wound for years and wants to stop circling.

You don't need to be a surfer. I'll teach you.

The beginner's mind is actually an asset here — first-time experiences in challenging physical environments reveal things that nothing else can.

What you need to bring is a genuine willingness to be honest.

Not performance-honest. Actually honest. The kind that's uncomfortable. If you have that, the rest I can work with.

One last thing before you apply

This work is not for everyone. If you're looking for a wellness vacation, Costa Rica has plenty of options that are a better fit. If you want someone to confirm what you already believe about yourself, I'm the wrong guide.

But if you're ready to be seen clearly — maybe for the first time — and you're ready to do something real with what you find, then I don't know a more potent container than two days with no agenda except the truth, a jungle at your back, and an ocean that doesn't lie.

Spaces are extremely limited. I run a small number of these each year, and I hold them as sacred as anything I do. If you feel the pull, trust it.

Love and darkness,
Traver
